Something to Laugh About?

During a visit to a mental asylum,a visitor
asked the Director what the criterion was that
defined whether or not a patient should be
institutionalized.

“Well,” said the Director, “we fill up a bathtub;
then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket
to the patient and ask him or her to empty the
bathtub.”

“Oh, I understand,” said the visitor. “A normal
person would use the bucket because it’s bigger
than the spoon or the teacup.

“No,” said the Director, “A normal person
would pull the plug. Do you want a bed by the
wall or near the window?

The very simplest solution is usually the best
way even in today's tech-crazy world. How
many times have you heard "take this pill to
stop smoking." Or this pill to lose weight.
This pill to cure a drug habit. A world famous
inventor once said the solution to many of the
world's problems will be very "simple." You
want to lose weight? Stop eating. Same goes
for smoking...just stop. Drugs, too...
just stop. Hard to do? Yes. Simple? Yes.

No blame games allowed! No it wasn't be-
cause you were abused as a child. No it wasn't
because you were poor, white or black, boy or
girl.

Remember the world famous line..
"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" The
President's closest advisors told him he could
not say this politically incorrect demand.
Reagan's instincts told him otherwise. He
said it and Gorbachev did it. Simple as that.

Ever tried to sell something to someone and
you talked too long and failed to ask for the
order. Happens everyday over and over.
Sound too simple...Yes! But it works. Why?
Because the buyer said "you sold me in 5
minutes and I was ready to order, but you
kept on talking and never asked for the order?

KISS works every time...keep it simple, Stupid.
Works in politics, local government, in your
business and especially in your family.

Feel free to share with our readers your take
on this "simple" philosophy. Also keep on
getting people registered to vote. Easy to do
it online right up to 30 days before election.

Didn't want to, but did anyway. Attended town board meeting last thurs. nite. One good thing happened. Mrs. Becky Leonard, who runs antique shop next to mill, read her letter to mayor and town engineer. The very best letter yet to these two elected officials. Bottom line was "get off of our backs and stop harrassing us over codes." We are generating income and that is good for everybody. Hello Dugger and Woodruff call off your attack dogs. How about just a tiny bit of cooperation to help the historic area to change and grow! KISS will work for you too...try it...keep it simple!

Thank you 9:21. Why, why, why, aren't we encouraging our historic district instead of making it so difficult for anyone to try to improve their buildings and make our little village more tourist friendly. (Translation, more business for the owners and more taxes for the city). When the sewer was being run behind the historic district, why didn't the city partner with the developer, and bring it across the creek and up the street, where all the businesses, including the one with a leaking septic tank, could hook up for a reasonable amount. I hear that the city thinks the taxpayers (residents) would get upset over that kind of expenditure. However, it would get paid back over time by hook up fees and taxes, the village could have some restaurants where people could eat while they shop, and therefore they might shop longer, and we could have the kind of historic district that adds value to our homes. Gee, I'm really going to get mad about that. And, maybe instead of requiring the building owners to pay their portion up front, maybe we can setup a payment plan so they can afford it. I'm sorry about dwelling on the sewer, but it seems to be a big factor limiting the ability of our businesses to grow.
While I'm on a roll, let's also get some reality on parking. This is a historic, downtown area. Historic buildings traditionally don't have adequate parking. When they were built, a hitching post would do. We need to provide city parking. The businesses in Franklin don't have adequate parking. Bellbuckle has some parking in the dirt and whereever else you can find it. I've been reading that if the mill were to become a restaurant, it would need all this parking. That's ridiculous. One more time, we're making it next to impossible for our businesses to grow. When the cremery was going to be a restaurant, people were excited and with all the new houses, there are going to be more people who want somewhere to eat because the fact is that in today's world with 2 wage earner families, people eat out a lot and there's limited pickings in Nolensville.
Ok, I'm stepping off my soapbox now. But let's KISS and find ways to get things done in a efficient manner and help our town instead of hindering it.
God Bless Nolensville (we need it)

Saw the mayor's comments on the sewer in the BOMA meeting unofficial minutes. (I noticed that it didn't include Dr. Curtsingers' remarks). It seems so strange that metro was able to sneak in here under the cover of night and run the sewer lines across the park without permission of the city. When the sewer lines were being planned, did our planning commission knowing full well that they were going to be needed on Nolensville road, negotiate with metro? No? I guess it's just one more time where poor Nolensville is a victim of the metro and Williamson County. Awe shucks, we all are just po' lil' country folks down here in Nolensville and can't deal with the big city folks and developers. Give me a break.
Can we put the PLAN back in planning as in Planning Commission please? If you want to KISS, then plan it right the first time. It's much easier and less expensive that way.

We have started a yahoo group dedicated to praying for Nolensville, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PrayForNolensville/ . This is a moderated group dedicated to uplifting our town in prayer through this time of transition. If you want to visit or join, please go to the above yahoo group. Although you can't post as a guest, you can establish a yahoo id and post anonymously through that. Opinions however will need to stay in the blog and other sites. This is a prayer site only.
God Bless you all
