IS THERE A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN?

Thompson's Coming In!!!

So it appears that Fred Thompson will be
entering the presidential race. On the one
hand, to the extent that he sharpens up the
field, thereby helping the best candidate to
emerge, it's a good thing. But it strikes me
that there is a lot of mass delusion among
Republicans who seem to think that,
because he's got an appealing, folksy
manner and a lot of gravitas, Fred Thomp-
son is the answer to conservatives' prayers.
For me to become a Thompson supporter,
I would need to be convinced that his cancer
isn't in any danger of returning, and so far,
we have heard very little from doctors or
others about his prognosis. It's an un-
pleasant topic, but anyone who thinks the
Democrats wouldn't exploit it is hopelessly
naive.

Second, I'd like to hear his thoughts on
McCain-Feingold, which he supported.
Does he regret that decision, and why/why
not? How articulately does he defend his
position? More than anything, I want to see
him just get into the mix, and start having to
mix it up with the other candidates -- and the
press -- just to see how he takes it. The up-
coming campaign will be a brutal one for the
Republican candidate, and I want to be sure
that whomever Republicans nominate can
take, and land, punches with elan and good
humor. Thompson looks just fine now, but so
does every car until it's driven off the lot . . .
In other words a big question in my mind is
does Fred Thompson really want to be
president, and is he willing to do what it
takes to get there -- not just in the primaries,
but most importantly, in the general election?

Nolensville's 2007-08 Budget Reveals $1 Million $$$ to Use a Small Portion of Old Elementary School--For Town Hall--18 Months From Today-Maybe?

2007-08 Town Budget includes $1 Million for
town's contribution to help convert 35-year old
school into a "dual-purpose" facility so that
town can use a "small-portion" for town hall.

Question? How can a "small-portion" of the
facility cost the town $1 Million Dollars? Is
this a sound investment for the town? You
decide? Would you invest your own One
Million dollars in this renovation project?

How much of the building would the town
own--outright? Or is the county the owner?
Don't forget the county is the majority owner
of the Nolensville Fire Hall.

More budget questions? Last year's budget
was $2,057,873.00. New 2007-08 budget is
$3,600,000.00. That is $1,542,127.00 more
than last year.

But wait! If you substract the $1 Million dollars
set aside for town hall then the new 2007-08
budget is $542,127.00 more than last year?

Deduct $250,000 for town's share of expand-
ing the fire hall. That leaves $292,157? And
that won't cover the Nolensville share of re-
pairs to Waller Road?

Question? Can the town still cover all of the
services required by the 16 or more new
housing developments being built?
Probably NOT! You decide? Look closely
when budget is "said" to be BALANCED?

Now for the painful truth about this new
budget. Get ready for a complicated explan-
ation of just how the $1 Million dollars "fits"
into this new budget. Statements like "it is
really part of our capital expenditures budget
over the next five years? Question? What
capital expenditures budget...up until now
town has not had this kind of budget.?

June 7th board meeting about the budget
needs to have about 20 local citizens to
stand up and ask "line by line " budget
questions! And ask for answers!

Only 8 days until local citizens can ask
questions about the budget but only
for 3 minutes per person. It's not much
time so choose your words carefully and
don't expect an answer. But do it anyway!

traffic count that is almost beyond any
one's comprehension.

The new school for some 800 students will
add some 1,600 new cars to the traffic count
at the corner of Nolensville Road and Rocky
Fork. This is a narrow corner with no way
to create left and right turn lanes in any
direction.

Thank you, Mr. President, for those painfully true
words of wisdom. Let's take a bit of political license
and re-word Reagan's words to fit our situation right
here Nolensville.

Well, the trouble with most of our town board and
commissions is not that they are ignorant, but that
they know so much that isn't so!

Here are some examples you may have forgotten.

1. Last summer Alderman Dugger said there was no
water shortage! WRONG! Water dept. said it was so!
And people all over town knew it was so!

2. Last summer town engineer Woodruff said that
Brittain Downs development had a letter from the
water dept. to OK them to start building. WRONG!
No such letter was ever issued.

3. Alderman Alexander close friend of Brittain
Downs developer went around the board and met
with our private water company securing a weasel
worded letter that some how OK'd water rights for
the new development. WRONG! No such procedure
should have been allowed to stand.
But Dugger Ok'd it.

4. During Dugger's short stint as Interim Mayor
he repeatedly made motions to the board that in-
volved him directly and then turned right around
and voted for himself. WRONG! But what the
"heck" nobody to stop him...not even the town
attorney?

5. During a recent board meeting Dugger assured
everyone that town had a long-term capital expen-
ditures buget to finance a new town hall. WRONG!
Town has never yet to this day had any kind of a
"capital expenditures" budget PERIOD!

6. During another recent meeting Dugger assured
everyone that new budget was "balanced" and
that budget committee had been "disbanded"-no
further need for a budget committee. WRONG!
Mayor recalled budget committee and said they
had much more work to do.

7. Mayor said she would enact a new FLAG policy
that would quickly resolve local flag disputes and
issues. WRONG! Her new flag policy went down
in flames..nobody supported it and nothing done?

(Tip: ask Mayor on 6/7 if she sent a check to a
Franklin fireworks firm as a down payment on a
$8,500 or more 4th of July fireworks package?)
When is the last time you wrapped up almost TEN
THOUSAND DOLLARS and lit a match to it? Sound
like a good investment to you? NOT!


8. Mayor OK'd the firing of local policeman by our
Police Chief. Fired policeman requested a local
hearing chaired by Mayor who refused to consider
the details presented by policeman's attorney.
WRONG! Another hearing to come in Nashville
giving the fired policeman an impartial and fair
hearing. Details to come.

9. Mayor's "pet-project" the Design-Review pro-
ject has yet to formally approve the Vice-Mayor's
new real estate office located in the former Marusa
residential home. Property owner Kelley got it re-
zoned o4/07 (with Dugger's help) and then re-
modeled entire property. Allowed Dugger to move
in as an office and post a sign. Cut down most of
the trees and will soon black-top entire front yard
as a parking lot. WRONG? YOU BET IT IS? WHY?
Well let's start with town permits and approvals.
Did anyone get a "Certificate of Occupancy" and
a "Certifiticate of Appropriatness" and a Design-
Review approval for colors,etc.? And a sign OK!
Probably not! Why? Well is the Pope Catholic?
The Vice-Mayor doesn't have to...get it? You do.
He doesn't. (puppet-meister's don't ask their
puppets about anything.)

10. Former town engineer Woodruff said the new
road around the cemetary met any and all required
specifications. WRONG? Now we learn it may
very well be in the wrong place flooding private
property and open to another law-suit)

Ten things to think about and come the next board
meeting June 7th why not discuss them with board?

to see such a thing. Someone later pointed out who

she was. Heard a lot of bad things around town about

her since then. From what I've read online seems like

"Lymo" always talks about how Joe (Alderman Curt-

singer) can't let things go and move on. It that calling

the kettle black? Since Joe won his ethics case, Lymo

Moses can't seem to stop talking about it. Move on

Lymo you lost this one. Do we have a sore loser on

hand. Get over it. Move on, Get positive for the town.

Not negative. Show some love. Grow up. Take the

high road for once. Everyone needs to chill out here.

Stop the hate once and for all. Be adults. Do good.

Be kind. Be supportive. Be an asset. Stop talking
