HOW ABOUT 2 Yr.TERM LIMITS FOR MAYOR & ALDERMEN?

Spring Hill is one of the fastest growing cities in the
United States, and five years from now it will be an
entirely different place than what it is today.

Mayor term court decision Spring Hill Tenn.
For those that are interested, the judge has come
back with a ruling today in the case contesting our
mayoral term. The ruling was in favor of the defen-
dant (Danny Leverette), stating that the Spring Hill
mayoral term cannot be reduced at this time to a two
year term. Unless Mayor Leverette decides to give
up his seat and run again in April for the remainder
of his term, it is a done deal. (www.springhilltn.blog-

What this tells us is that other small towns are having
serious second thoughts about 4 year terms for their
Mayor and Aldermen? Think about it in 4 to 5 years
Nolensville can really change for the better or otherwise?

How many think 4 years is too long? Send in your
comments.

In two years we'll have to elect new aldermen, etc. Why not include the Mayor in the election? Spring Hill is growing faster than Nolensville, but they know how much can happen in two years. Here we elected a totally unexperienced team combined with Dugger's poor record. TWO YEARS OF THIS IS ENOUGH! Budget-wise no matter how hard we run for two years we'll end up behind. Let's do it! Get a new team in two years!

Under state law, Spring Hill could change the terms of the entire Board of Mayor and Aldermen to two years, but not just the mayor, as was attempted in 2004 by an ordinance that was found to be invalid. I'm not quite sure that a city the size of Spring Hill could support an election of the entire board (eight aldermen, plus a mayor) in a single election. The issue in Spring Hill was never whether to make the entire board run in two years. The issue was only if the Mayor term should be shortened to a two year term. Ultimately, the court decided it could not be.
