Mayor/Board forced to find money fast to fund road repair & repaving due to thousands of new homes approved by board.
Although 2 years too late with absolutely
no advance planning in place this Mayor
failed miserably to anticipate what road
repairs and repaving would be required
before they approved and continue to
approve new housing developments.
Read article in today's Tennessean 1/30
where Notestine town attorney (just now)
"suggests a road study to document what
kind of work would be needed in coming
years." Why wasn't this study done 2 years
ago before city approved new subdivisions
left and right?
Ready for this...Mayor says "we will have to
do this study. It's important when you look
at what we've got coming on places like York
and Kidd roads. I think (not sure) we need to
move forward on this as quickly as possible."
QUESTION: Mayor why wasn't this done
2 years ago before city approved new sub-
divisions over and over?
Blog reader reminds us..."Our poor weak
little Mayor always acts like he is so power-
less...watch how he continues to cheerlead
for more developments. Definitely time for
him and his boys to go."
What kind of road study was done when city
annexed 2,200 acres last year. Waller road
came with it and city thot Brentwood annex-
ed half of it...not so! Brentwood is now study-
ing how much $$$'s in road repairs before
they annex it. Estimates show $350,000
would be Nolensville's share---so much for
advance planning--Mr. Mayor.
Take Kidd road and Mayor's overwhelming
desire to annex acres and acres, but Kidd
road repairs are so costly that the county
will not approve a subdivsion in this area.
Yet, the city plows ahead with no advance
planning, no cost estimates for road repairs
ignoring the county's refusal to approve any
subdivision off Kidd road due to the cost?
Then there's the TDOT (widen)Nolensville
road project that will cost ONE MILLION
dollars from Nolensville to push the project
up the calendar to 2015 or even 2025. Mayor
where is that in our city budget??
Brentwood has a public works fee and Franklin
has a road impact fee...Nolensville HAS GOT
NOTHING...NADDA...NO FEE..NO NOTHING!
Great pre-planning by Mayor and team swinging
into action part-time TWO YEARS TOO LATE!
Mayor sums up the Tennessean article "We're not
unique. I can name 10 other cities that are doing
this right now." BUT NOLENSVILLE ISN'T
DOING ANYTHING ABOUT ROAD STUDIES,
FEES...NOTHING! WHAT WE ARE DOING IS
CONTINUING TO APPROVE THOUSANDS OF
NEW HOMES WITH NO MONEY TO SERVICE
THE ROADS PERIOD.
Show up this Thursday 2/2/06 at town hall
meeting and tell the Mayor directly to stop
this MADNESS. The city budget is broke...so
stop annexing more land and approving more
homes now! Even if you don't give a &^%$$ we
as local residents are responsible for city
expenses and property taxes now and in years
to come. Send in your comments and emails.

Definitely asking critical questions!
We need mayor to open meeting to question answer session rather than his traditional putdown of us local citizens. I for one am just about fed up with this administration and am planning to do everything I can to get my fellow homeowners on this street to vote out these power hungry folks. Mayor has referred to us as idiots in the past......maybe he fails to understand that we elected him and he is supposed to lead us.
I'll be there Thursday night!
Great , so will we and show this mayor that there is more to this town then greedy developers that will leave this town in debt and ruin.
