REZONING & APPROVAL TO BUILD ON FLOODPLAIN POSTPONED FOR NOW!
Hello Nolensville Citizens--this is your flood plain!
Don't forget what it looks like. At the next town
hall meeting in December 2007 there may be an
attempt to hide this picture and get approval for
a commercial rezoning at the corner of Sunset
and Nolensville. Ignore the fact that the team of
Dugger/Kelley have already converted the former
residence into a commercial business and office
for Vice-Mayor's Insurance business.
Now they want approval to build a retail shopping
center right in the middle of a 100% FLOODPLAIN.
In today's local paper the Mayor reassures every-
one that the town's flood- plain regulations are
STRICT and COMPREHENSIVE. Don't hold your
breath---just wait until the entire story unfolds and
don't be surprised that the floodplain will suddenly
disappear into thin air.
What happens if they ever get approval? Well ask
any long time resident in that area. The run-off of
water from a new retail center built on fill that is
higher than nearby properties will FLOOD every-
body's property. Wake up folks before the water
comes!
Read all about it in today's paper.
Something to think about?
The mayor and aldermen are not direct agents
for the city - they are elected officials with the
power to vote only - not sign and enter into
contracts.
A public hearing and vote on this entire matter
has been postponed. But it will come around
again and then those that vote to approve build-
ing on floodplain and rezoning may be held
personally liable for any damages due to
flooding and lawsuits by local residents.

You should have attended the meeting.
There will be no public hearing at the Dec. BOMA because Kelley asked to defer the rezoning indefinately when he saw he was fighting a losing battle.
Citizens made their views well known and the mayor agreed.
Kelley rezoning and remodeling the property on Brittain Lane into rental property last year has nothing to do with the Sunset Rd. rezoning request.
Hello 10:21 PM If you really believe Kelley has nothing to do with the Sunset Rd. rezoning...then I have a bridge to nowhere to sell you. This is the problem with many local voters they don't know and they don't care. PS: we attended the meeting and as new residents we will be watching Dugger & Kelley team.
The Channel 5 TV picture only shows a section of Nolensville road that was flooded on both sides of the road and into the First Tennessee Bank. This was a recent flood not 100 years ago. Obviously, the storm sewer system is overloaded so the water goes everywhere. Alexander and Dugger will keep pushing for commercial developments so keep your eye on these two wheeler/dealers.
Just drove by Sunset and Nolensville Road corner. Seems to me the new parking lot in front of the Vice-Mayor's Office will become a big bath tub when it rains non stop? Who approved this lake front property rezoning?
